Meghan, I've learned the thrill of saying NO, which isn't dissimilar from editing my life. For so long I've had to scramble for every possible opportunity that I got in a bad habit of saying yes even to things I really didn't want to do. I'm still kind of a pushover, but I'm getting better at it.
Thanks for your feedback, Chris. NO is quite similar to "editing." I have also been practising saying no, but I think I needed a different angle or entry point into the greater process. Editing can sometimes mean NO for me, though sometimes it's a compromise (this but not that). Or it's making a change to the way I'm doing something. In general, it needs to be a "hell yes" for me to even think about investing my time or any of my "editing" process into streamlining things into my life.
I call it βprioritisingβ. But βediting my lifeβ sounds more interesting. Thanks for this.
I think I like it because it's a concept that resonates with me as a writer/editor in more nuanced ways.
