Dear Ones —
Clusters of rowan berries still cling to the mountain ash growing outside my window while a powdery autumn snowfall collects upon them, like little white hats. It’s a curious image, but not uncommon in the Rockies, where we’re a month from the Solstice but it feels as winter as winter gets. It seems a bit cliché to use the weather as a metaphor, but my staring at this mountain ash has me thinking I understand how it might be feeling: clinging to something from the past, the actual fruits of its labour, while acknowledging a new season is upon it. I feel this, as a creative soul who works on a project-by-project basis.
The creative cycle is so similar to what is happening out my window.
