Dear Ones —
The air is cool here in the shade where I sit on the porch of our place in Mexico and look out on the Sea of Cortez. It’s cool enough that I’m wearing a sweater. My feet are a little bit cold. And I haven’t yet put on sunscreen for the day.
Just a metre away from me the sun is shining and the transition on the floor tiles moves quickly from comfortably cool to wonderfully warm. It’s a remarkable difference, and just a step away.
Today, if I got cold enough, it would be as simple as sliding over a metre and I will feel the warm sun kissing my skin. There’s nothing trapping me or keeping me in the shade. Most days, it’s the same for my body, mind and spirit. Speaking metaphorically, I can toggle from shade to sun as I need it.
But I went through an experience the other day that kept me trapped in the shade…
