Just when I thought things were starting to get better…
Travel was feeling more stable. We followed all the protocols. Future planning looked more promising. And then an emotional decision by health officials and governments with this new variant has turned my life upside-down for several days (and potentially weeks) because my triple-vaxxed, 42-year-old husband has spent time in “red” zones in Africa. Despite testing negative the whole way along, and spending most of his time in the wilderness, he’s now going to be jumping through new hoops that weren’t there when he departed.
I’ve given him a bit of a heads up on the satellite device, but he doesn’t know just how much of a circus he’s about to come back to when he re-enters civilization. But, for me, it’s been many days of crisis management as I’m reading restrictions for various transit zones, checking quarantine requirements, rebooking flights that need to account for more PCR tests, and all while parenting two young k…
