Dear Ones β€”

Had I written this just yesterday, I would have said I was writing from Vancouver, B.C. And just last week? I was in Cancun, Mexico, with my family. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind this month, so much so I haven’t sent my latest Field Notes to my community, but here I am writing to this select group of supporters as I find my bearings at home.

This past weekend, I was in Vancouver for the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival for a screening of Wildflowers and to also lead their Adventure Writing workshop: Transforming Adventures into Impactful Stories. Thirty or so aspiring and established writers and filmmakers joined me for this storytelling workshop, and it was their questions at the end that really struck me. I could sense this hunger in them, a desire to crack the code on their creativity and how to see their ideas come to fruition. How do I know if that spark of an idea is one I should develop?
