Dear Ones —

First of all, I’m sorry this update is late. I was neck-deep in that book of mine, which I submitted to the publisher this past week!

It’s hard to describe what that feels like. There’s the feeling of lightness of lifting a weight off your shoulders. There’s the feeling of surrender that you’ve done your absolute best. There’s a feeling of joy that you’ve finally achieved a goal that’s been sitting on your mind for a decade. There’s also a touch of sadness that you no longer have this intimate relationship with the very words of the book (at least until it comes back to me with edits!).

Since then, I’ve been working to introduce more balance back into my life. More exercise and time outside. More downtime. Better meal prep and planning. Paul is on his first stint abroad since February 2020 so I’m also in a major adjustment period.

Part of that quest for balance has been early-morning hikes up Sacred Buffalo Guardian, a mountain in the heart of Banff. It’s only about 350 me…
