Dear Ones —
Bună ziua from the Transylvanian town of Sibiu, Romania. In the past 24 hours exhaustion has caught up with me, and I can’t tell if it’s the jet lag or sickness - perhaps both. But I’m also recognizing I’m not yet in the travel flow, wherein I feel disconnected from my usual life as I know it and I get into the flow of being on the road. Some things at home have kept my mind tethered “back there” though I’m trying in earnest to be here now. I feel myself slowly extricating from it, one thread at a time.
What have we done so far? After landing in Bucharest we (me and Paul, our girls and Paul’s dad) made our way to Brasov, where we spent our first few days adjusting, hiking, trying Romanian cuisine, and visiting the world-famous Bran Castle. Today we drove to Sibiu and made a stop to walk the beautiful grounds around the fortress in Făgăraș.
