Dear Ones β€”

We’ve been on a flood watch, now warning, here in Banff. The media seems to be loving the chance to hype things up, reminding us of the devastating floods that occurred in this area back in 2013. It has rained non-stop and we’re all keeping our eyes on the Bow River.

I was scheduled to take our car in for servicing in Calgary today, about an hour and 20 minutes away. It kept me up a bit last night, wondering if I should stick with my plans or reschedule. But life is busy with my husband away for a month, and I’d already planned my week out. Plus, last night I received a text from the Town of Banff that the threat of flooding had been diminished. I decided to make the call in the morning.

I checked the forecast and it called for less rain than anticipated, so I decided to go. As I was sipping my coffee I did a quick Google search to see if there were any updates. The city of Calgary had declared a local state of emergency. Ok, so now what do I do? I didn’t want to risk being separated from my kids if something happened with the roads.
